HYPERBARIC OXYGEN THERAPY (HBOT)

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a medical treatment that immerses the entire body in a mild form of high-pressure in an inflatable (soft) chamber where the patient breathes 100% oxygen. These soft chambers provide low hyperbaric pressure at 1.3 atmospheres.

While the use of HBOT for wound healing, certain tissue infections, burns and other conditions is well-recognized, integrative medicine views HBOT as useful to promote healing in the brain or tissue, improve cognitive function or as adjunctive therapy for stroke or many other conditions.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy saturates the patient’s plasma with oxygen resulting in increased oxygen delivery to tissues. Specifically, hyperbaric oxygen therapy promotes healing through enhancing white blood cell activity and initiating formation of new peripheral vascular vessels and nerve endings in damaged areas. Pressurized oxygen has healing capabilities. Oxygen expands and gets into the tissues and stimulates formation of new blood vessels.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy can promote healing in the brain and may improve cognitive function.

Approved uses for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) are:

Carbon Monoxide Poisoning & Smoke Inhalation
  Decompression Sickness
  Diabetic Ulcers
  Radiation Damage To Body Tissue
  Refractory Osteomyelitis
Stimulation Of Formation Of New Blood Vessels
  Wounds That Do Not Heal

Hyprebaric Oxygen Therapy may also be used as adjunctive therapy in a number of conditions including:

  Allergies
  Autism
  Auto-Immune Disorders
  Candidiasis
  Cerebral Palsy
  Chronic Fatigue Syndrome & Fibromyalgia
  Heavy Metal Poisoning
  Infections
Injury Recovery & Soft Tissue Injury
  Lyme Disease
  Stroke Recovery
  Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)

Please note that the Grossgold Clinic doesn’t yet provide Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) as a specialty lab service. Instead, we can offer you a referral to a certified and trusted practioner who does. For more information on our affiliated practioners, or other services of this nature, call us at 727-330-3844.
